About Green Street News

Green Street News is a preeminent provider of actionable commercial real estate research, news, data, analytics, and advisory services in the U.S. Canada, and Europe.

For 40 years, Green Street has delivered trusted intelligence and data on the public and private real estate markets, helping investors, banks, lenders, and other industry participants optimise investment and strategic decisions. The firm delivers exclusive market information, conclusion-driven insights, and predictive analytics through a SaaS platform.

Global expansion

Green Street News partnered with Human Made to expand its digital presence into new markets, consolidate its growing portfolio, and align global branding. The project involved two key initiatives: the rebranding of the UK and Europe arm of the business, previously called React News, to Green Street News, and the launch of Green Street News Canada.

With a strong commitment to WordPress and Altis cloud hosting, Green Street sought to create a centralised digital infrastructure that would streamline operations across regions while maintaining a seamless user experience.

Integration without disruption

Following the acquisition of React News in 2021, Green Street faced the challenge of integrating the publication’s digital presence into its brand while minimising disruption to its loyal subscribers.

Simultaneously, the company was preparing for a major expansion into Canada, requiring a scalable, flexible, and cost-effective solution that could accommodate its complex publishing workflows. The US division remained on a proprietary CMS, but Altis was identified as the preferred platform for the Canadian launch, reinforcing Green Street’s long-term commitment to WordPress.

Aiming higher, together

Green Street News maintains an internal engineering team, but relies on Human Made’s expertise in WordPress for complex projects. The two teams have built a strong partnership through an ongoing monthly maintenance and continuous improvement retainer since 2020. This has included supporting the growth of the European offering, integrating US data and insights into UK and European News, and offering strategic guidance on the technological alignment of the two organisations on items including AuthO for SSO.

For this project, Green Street needed a partner that could provide:

  • Global publishing experience: Proven success in implementing a centralised CMS that could provide regional content strategies alongside the sharing of technologies such as email provider.
  • WordPress expertise: A deep understanding of multisite and flexible CMS solutions.
  • Scalability and performance: Ensuring site speed, uptime, and minimal disruption to existing subscribers

Our approach

The team at Human Made worked closely with Green Street News to develop a tailored approach for each initiative:

Rebranding React News to Green Street News

  • Implemented a full brand refresh, updating logos, colour schemes, and UI elements.
  • Developed redirection strategies to ensure users seamlessly transitioned to the new domain.
  • Maintained site speed and performance while ensuring minimal downtime during migration.
  • Worked alongside Green Street’s internal team to ensure editorial workflows remained unaffected.

Green Street News Canada Expansion

  • Leveraged Altis multisite to enable efficient content management across regions.
  • Designed a region-based homepage selector, allowing users to receive tailored content based on location.
  • Extended Restrict Content Pro plugin to support new regional access controls.
  • Integrated MailChimp for seamless onboarding and personalised newsletter curation.
  • Ensured continuity with the existing UK and European digital infrastructure while differentiating the Canadian offering.
  • Third-party dependencies: Human Made stepped in to assist with OneTrust integration, resolving critical compliance issues that originally sat with Green Street’s team.

Results & impact

Both projects launched successfully, achieving outcomes both teams were thrilled with:

  • A unified brand identity: Green Street News now offers consistency across the UK, Europe, and Canada regions.
  • Seamless migration: Users retained access with minimal disruption, ensuring business continuity.
  • Enhanced user experience: Personalised content delivery through regional homepage selection and dynamic newsletter integration.
  • Stronger digital foundation: The Canada expansion laid the groundwork for future international growth.

Ongoing partnership

With a continuous improvement and maintenance retainer in place, Human Made remains Green Street’s trusted partner for WordPress development.

Looking ahead, our collaboration will focus on optimising infrastructure, further refining regional content strategies, and preparing for Green Street News’ future ambitions.

Earlier this year (2025), the engineering team at Green Street also successfully migrated Green Street’s latest acquisition, Australia Property Journal, to Altis, supporting its goal of cost-effective consolidation of digital assets. The US news division remains within a proprietary CMS, but is on the roadmap to be migrated to Altis in 2025.

We can’t wait to get started on the next chapter for this exciting partnership.
