The Harvard Gazette nominated for a 2025 Webby Award

Big news from the newsroom: the Harvard Gazette has been nominated for a Webby Award in the Websites and Mobile Sites – General Desktop & Mobile Sites: News & Politics category!

Described as “the internet’s highest honour” by The New York Times, the Webbys celebrate the best of the web, from groundbreaking design and standout storytelling to technical excellence and user experience. A nomination means you’re doing something truly exceptional.

That’s exactly what the team at Harvard Public Affairs and Communications set out to do with the Gazette’s recent redesign. As Harvard University’s official news outlet, the Gazette plays a vital role in sharing stories from across the Harvard community. The new site elevates that mission with a fresh, modern design and a digital experience built for the future.

We partnered closely with Harvard and our good friends at Futhermore to reimagine the Gazette from the ground up. Every decision — from the site structure and editorial tools to performance, accessibility, and flexibility — was designed to support great journalism and make life easier for editors.

The result? A fast, accessible, and elegant WordPress platform that’s as smart and ambitious as the institution it represents.

This Webby award nomination is a huge recognition of that work, and we’re thrilled to see the Harvard Gazette standing alongside some of the biggest names in digital publishing.

We were also delighted to see NASA’s website nominated for a Webby Award (among 9 other nominations!). NASA’s CMS replatforming offered the perfect opportunity for WordPress agency Lone Rock Point to harness our open source technology, and we’re thrilled that this outstanding work is getting the recognition it deserves.
